Written on the wind: Lawrence Weiner Drawings

アメリカ人アーティスト、ローレンス・ウェイナー（Lawrence Weiner, 1942–2021）の作品集。2013年にバルセロナのMACBA（カタルーニャ現代美術館）で開催された展覧会「Written on the Wind」のカタログとして刊行されたもの。

本作では、ローレンス・ウェイナーの紙の作品に焦点を当てています。未公開のノート、インスタレーションの設計図、書籍のレイアウト、ポスターなど、プロセスから完成に至るまで、多様な紙に描かれたドローイングを収録。これらの作品は、作者の思考や制作の過程を垣間見る貴重な資料となっています。また本書は、ブックデザイナーのフィリップ・タック（Filiep Tacq）と作家の協働で制作されており、一連のリズムによって構成されたシークエンスは新たな物語を形成し、本書そのものをひとつの作品として成立させています。

Lawrence Weiner began his career as an artist in the early 1960s, traveling across the U.S., Mexico, Canada and eventually to Europe, furnishing himself with an ad hoc education on the way. He soon turned away from any conception of art as requiring a production of objects and focused instead on constructing new ways of perceiving language. Today, Weiner works with almost any medium, from books and movies to public and private installations, on grand and small scales. Throughout, drawing has been a core practice, and Written on the Wind comprehensively documents his works on paper for the first time, including installation plans, book layouts, notes and technical drawings. In collaboration with book designer Filiep Tacq, Weiner has designed a plate section for the volume that consists of more than 120 drawings presented within sequences of gestural graphics to provide a narrative, “drawn” chapter.
