Published as a limited edition, WERK No. 10 commemorates ‘Colette meets Comme des Garçons,’ a pop-up store that opened on Tokyo's Kotto-dori in 2004 as a collaboration between the legendary Parisian select shop, Colette, and Comme des Garçons. Under the theme of 'Meetings,' this issue documents the store, which existed for only a few months, through photographs and records of encounters with artists and brands, including the musician Michael Stipe. The one-off nature of the event is physically embodied in the magazine itself: its cover is not made from card but is instead handcrafted from torn and layered pages from the main body of the publication.
Furthermore, this issue includes the inaugural edition of Guerrillazine, created by the magazine's art director, Theseus Chan, as a concept book for the 'Guerrilla Stores' that Comme des Garçons began launching worldwide in 2004. After the first Comme des Garçons Guerrilla Store opened in Berlin that year, Singapore was chosen as the third global location, a project that was realised through a collaboration with Chan. The first issue of Guerrillazine features photographs and graphics from the three stores operating at the time: Berlin, Barcelona, and Singapore.
