「The Most Beautiful Swiss Books」は、スイス連邦文化局（FOC）が毎年主催するブックデザインのコンペティションです。その質の高さと厳格な審査で国際的に知られており、受賞作を収録したカタログは、毎年のデザインの潮流を示す重要な資料とされています。

2024年の受賞作を収録した本書では、構造的・経済的な厳しい制約や生産背景の脆弱化など、現代の出版業界が直面する課題に対する一つの応答として、出版のエコシステムそのものに光を当てます。特に焦点が当てられるのは、デザイナー、出版社、そして印刷所という、本作りに関わる専門家たちの緊密な協働です。優れたブックデザインとは、美しいだけでなく、健全な制作環境から生まれるという思想のもと、2024年を代表するスイスの出版文化の成果を提示する一冊です。

Today, producing a book involves coordinating numerous resources and working within strict structural and economic constraints. This makes the publishing chain vulnerable, particularly for independent houses and local printworks. The task at hand is to preserve and strengthen Switzerland’s publishing ecosystem while supporting cooperation beyond its borders – a continuing dialogue with European countries, but also those further afield. Recognising books which appeared in 2024, this catalogue of competition winners casts a spotlight on collaboration between the different professions in bookmaking: graphic design studios, publishing houses, and printers.
