Helmut Lang Archive Dispersed by Joakim Andreasson

ヘルムート・ラング（Helmut Lang）自らがブランドのデザイナーを務めていた、Helmut Lang 2005 S/S コレクションまでのオリジナルデザイン1万点以上の写真を一冊にまとめたアーカイブブック。

本書では、引退から5年後の2010年、SOHOにあったラングのアトリエで発生した火災から救い出された服とアクセサリーの写真が収録されています。写真は、同ブランドの元デザイナー、ヨアキム・アンドレアソン（Joakim Andreasson）が、焼失から残ったこれらのアーカイブを売却する際に一枚ずつ撮影したもの。1万枚を超えるこれらの写真は、ヘルムート・ラングのデザインの重要かつ比類のないリサーチ資料としての役割を果たしています。尚、ラングはこれらの焼失をきっかけに、焼け残ったアーカイブを分解し作品へとつくりかえた展覧会「Make It Hard」を制作しています。

巻末には、ユージーン・ラブキン（Eugene Rabkin）、イェール・ブレスリン（Yale Breslin）、イェッぺ・ウゲルヴィグ（Jeppe Ugelvig）によるテキスト、収録されたアイテムの詳細をまとめたインデックスを収録。ブックデザインは、戦後に作られた洋服のカタログからインスピレーションを得ており、ファイヤーテープで封印されています。限定1000部でリリースされた初版。

Archive book of more than 10,000 photographs of original designs up to the Helmut Lang 2005 S/S collection, in which Helmut Lang himself was the designer of the brand.

It contains photographs of clothing and accessories salvaged from a fire that broke out in Lang's studio in SOHO in 2010, five years after his retirement. The photographs were taken one by one by the brand's former designer, Joakim Andreasson, when he sold these archives that had survived the fire. They serve as an important and unparalleled source of research into Helmut Lang's designs. In the wake of the fire, Lang produced the exhibition ‘Make It Hard’, in which he deconstructed the remaining archive and transformed it into works of art.

The volume includes texts by Eugene Rabkin, Yale Breslin and Jeppe Ugelvig. The book's design is inspired by post-war clothing catalogues and is sealed with fire tape.
