The 2026 annual of the "Tokyo TDC Awards," an international typography and design competition launched in 1990. Since its establishment, this award has continued to question the definition and possibilities of typography and graphic expression, earning international trust as a platform where diverse expressions of graphic design converge. The 2026 edition features 486 works from Japan and abroad, selected from 3,604 entries (1,649 domestic and 1,956 international) that passed the initial digital screening and the final physical screening. It includes selected, nominated, and award-winning works from all 11 judged categories, such as editorial, type design, logos, packaging, posters, web, and video.
This year's Grand Prize was awarded to "Futura®100," an expansion of Paul Renner's typeface "Futura" into 12 languages. This volume includes a foreword by Kaoru Kasai touching upon this background, as well as comments and biographies of the award winners, including those of other prizes, at the end of the book.
The cover design for this year's edition metaphorically depicts typographic styles—such as Latin cursive writing and ligatures—using a single line that can be described as lettering or drawing. The design is by Nejc Prah, a graphic designer based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The layout of the artwork pages was designed by Takehiko Muramatsu.
