今号では「What do you follow?（何を追いかけているの？）」という問いをテーマに、時間を刻む記録媒体としての写真が持つ「時間性」と、作家が対象に向ける持続的なまなざしを探求しています。フィンランド出身のオスマ・ハヴィラティ（Osma Harvilahti）は、パートナーと出会った日から静かに撮り続けている彼女の後ろ姿を提示し、日常の機微と変化する距離感を描写します。写真家の潮田登久子（Tokuko Ushioda）による冷蔵庫のシリーズは、30年以上にわたり友人・知人の生活の核にある装置を捉えることで、生活者の価値観やその時代の気配を浮かび上がらせた作家の代表作のひとつです。そのほか、ナイジェル・シャフラン（Nigel Shafran）による写真「Precautionary tales（触れてはだめなもの）」や、子どもたちの遊ぶ姿を追いながら自身の作品との繋がりを視覚的に描いたマーク・マンダース（Mark Manders）、写真家の荒木経惟、佐内正史、人類学者のティム・インゴルド、建築家の大野友資など、多彩な分野で活動する22人の視点を収録。テキストは英語、日本語訳の小冊子付き。
Issue 4 of PARTNERS, an annual magazine built around the concept of human and spatial relationships. Each issue takes a single inquiry as its point of departure, compiling a range of perspectives from a diverse group of contributors.
The central theme for this issue is "What do you follow?", which closely examines the element of temporality inherent to photography as a recording medium. Osma Harvilahti shares a ongoing sequence capturing his partner’s back, a practice maintained continuously since the day they first met. Tokuko Ushioda’s refrigerator series uncovers personal values and modes of daily life by documenting the appliances of family members, landlords, and acquaintances over a span of more than thirty years. Nigel Shafran presents photographs focused on the idea of "things not to touch" that he obsessively pursues, whilst artist Mark Manders visually explores the dialogue between children at play and his own sculptures. Featuring contributions from 22 individuals spanning various disciplines—including photographers Nobuyoshi Araki and Masafumi Sanai, anthropologist Tim Ingold, and architect Yusuke Oono—this volume brings into focus the quiet creative impulse to consistently follow subjects close at hand.
