A publication by artist Misa Asanuma. The title Nods refers to the subtle, ambiguous gestures of response exchanged with others. In the prose included at the end of the book, an avocado handed over by a friend, an unexpected moment spent at a local diner, and a sense of distance—falling short of a greeting—exchanged with another at the entrance of her building are set down with a matter-of-fact touch. The volume is composed of photographs, drawings, and texts, none of which are reduced to explicit words or meanings.
Rather than being compiled around a specific theme, it functions as a series of visual notes, gathering thoughts derived from the observation of daily life.
