An artist book by US-based artist Julie Wolfe. In her lifework project APOPHENIA, Wolfe explores the perceptual phenomenon of finding connections or patterns between unrelated events. The subtitle, "Exquisite Corpse", refers to the Surrealist collaborative technique, which Wolfe employs here as a metaphor for contemporary collage. She sources imagery from fashion photography, classical Western art, botanical illustrations, and luxury objects—images of "ideal beauty" that we consume and envy daily. By fragmenting these images or layering them with vivid fluorescent colours, Wolfe reconstructs existing contexts. Dismantling binaries such as beauty and ugliness, or the high and the low, this experimental and intellectual volume intervenes in the concept of consumed "beauty".
