1934年より続くデンマークのブックデザイン賞「The Best Danish Book Design」（Årets Bedste Bogarbejde）の2026年度受賞作を収録した公式カタログ。

この賞は、デザイン・印刷・製本のいずれかがデンマークで行われていることが応募条件で、出版社だけでなく、印刷所、デザイナー、アーティストなど、本づくりに携わる誰もが応募できます。2026年版でも、美術館と大学による共同刊行の論集から自費出版の少部数本までが選出されるなど、長らくデンマークの本づくりの水準を映し出してきました。

本書では、選出された書籍の図版に加え、制作者のポートレート、インタビュー、エッセイなどの寄稿を交えながら、本を取り巻く広範な文脈を探究しています。内容と構造、タイポグラフィ、紙、印刷、製本がどのように結びつき、ひとつのまとまりを形成するのか。予算や経済性、コラボレーションのあり方、フォーマットの決定など、一冊の本が世に出る背景にある無数の選択のプロセスにも焦点を当てています。長い造本の伝統に根ざしながら新しいかたちへと開かれた、デンマークのブックデザインの現在地を知ることができる一冊です。

This year’s catalogue documents the selected books, exploring the wider context surrounding them through portraits, interviews and editorial contributions. More than an overview, it is a publication about book design as an artistic, cultural and material field. About economics, production, collaboration, formats and the many choices behind every book. Professionalism, material knowledge and a love of books meet curiosity, debate and renewal.

Since 1934, The Best Danish Book Design has highlighted outstanding achievements in Danish book design and craftsmanship. Organised by Forening for Boghaandværk, founded in 1888, the annual selection reflects developments in the book as a designed, produced and material object.

The 2026 selection brings together examples of book design, where content, structure, typography, paper, printing and binding form a whole, alongside publications that challenge conventional ideas of what a book can be. Together, they offer a view of contemporary Danish bookdesign grounded in a long tradition of craftsmanship while remaining open to new forms, methods and ways of thinking about the book.
