These structures are remnants from the 19th century, when the region was a booming global centre of textile production. Once herself a textile designer in St. Gallen, Stéphanie Baechler decided to uncover the histories of these towers and the work they housed, as well as to re-invigorate their present through an artistic intervention. Forget Me Not catalogues a series of photographs of the remaining towers taken by Ladina Bischof in the form of an atlas, photographs that become the surface onto which Baechler’s research unfolds visually. Compiled of images, archival material, notes, anecdotes, correspondence, and commissioned texts, Forget Me Not is a non-hierarchical exploration of craftsmanship, an attempt to uncover almost-lost histories, and, above all, an ode to material in an increasingly dematerialised world. Photographer Johannes Schwartz documented the artist’s ephemeral installations and the existing fixtures and fittings, creating a portrait of the store. Accompanying the visual journey, a series of texts written by Sudhibhasilp, illustrated by Rudy Guedj, provides insight into her research through anecdotal stories and other miscellaneous facts on materials and exhibition design. Shifting between the form of the artist book and the exhibition catalogue “No thanks, I’m just looking” stands as the sole remaining document of the event.

-

Pages: 208
Size: 230 x 340 mm
softcover
color
limited edition of 500 copies

Published by Building Fictions, 2020

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0716/7790/3145/files/NOTHANKS_I_MJUSTLOOKING_c7f2740b-69f0-4639-a034-7256b88ba420.jpg?v=1732280756
the-man-who-carla-peer-karlis-krecers
THE MAN WHO / Carla Peer, Karlis Krecers

Titles beginning with ‘The Man Who’ have become a prevalent trope in storytelling over the past century and a half. Compiling 243 titles from 1869 to 2023 across literature, theater, and film, this collection lays bare the unchecked ambition, curious pursuits, and dubious power of the man at the center of it all. Always active and in control, he is the architect of his own destiny. Even the titles indicating his failure still carry the same expectation: to be knowledgeable, powerful, exceptional. This collection exposes society’s obsession with masculinity in all its contradictory, unattainable glory, and the isolation of The Man Who is granted the stage all to himself.

-
Pages: 256
Size: 100 x 150 mm
hardcover
black and white
limited edition of 1,000 copies

published by Building Fictions, 2025
